Stereo is available on the C920, which has two stereo-capable microphones on either side of the camera lens. Mono audio won’t be a big concern if you’re only really using it for personal calls (which are still highly affected by your internet speed). It ties into the C270’s main purpose and marketing point, which is that it’s for “pure and simple HD video calls”. This means that there won’t be a sense of depth to the audio that you record using this camera’s mic. However, the microphone is only capable of monophonic audio (or mono). It automatically comes with a noise reduction function, so your voice still gets through to the person you’re speaking to even in relatively busy surroundings. The C270 has a built-in microphone, which can be useful in some situations. A closer inspection reveals that the C920 (right) has microphones on both sides of the camera, unlike the C270 (left). The two models differ in the ability to yield stereo sound. It also has a wider field of vision (78 degrees compared to the C270’s 60), meaning that you can fit more onscreen with this model. Still images are also more striking when taken with the C920’s 15 megapixel camera. It is capable of maintaining auto focus and has face-tracking technology too, ensuring that you don’t look blurry onscreen. It’s equipped with automatic light correction like the C270, but it has other additional features. It provides high definition video quality at either 1080p or 720p at 30fps. The C920 is much more impressive by comparison. While the quality remains workable in low light conditions, some user reviews note that the color quality isn’t as good. It is still best, though, to use it in settings with good lighting. It also has automatic light correction, so you won’t have any problems even if your workspace is a bit dim. Photos are taken with its crisp 3 megapixel lens. It delivers 720p quality at 30fps, which is enough for use in a business video conference setting. With that said, however, the C270 isn’t bad.
